Re(a)lationship | May Date Night

"Some old-fashioned things like fresh air and sunshine are hard to beat”

- Laura Ingalls Wilder

We have said from the beginning, that Re(a)lationship is a resource that we pray is impactful and empowering. Re(a)lationship is a curated gathering of encouragement, teachings, Q+A’s, and more. One of the "mores" that we are excited to provide through this resource is a monthly date night idea for you and your spouse to use to grow your real relationship!

- - This month's date night idea is below - -

We love springtime.

The days are longer, the temperature is getting hotter, the flowers are blooming, the grass needs cutting, the bugs are buzzing, and life seems to be in full force.

On any given Saturday, Lowes, Home Depot, or your favorite DIY store is full of people loading up mulch, plants, outdoor furniture, flowers, you name it.

Spring is a time to get outside and get things done.

This also means Spiring is an excellent time for a Date.

Go to your favorite coffee shop and get your morning cup of coffee, juice, blended, or iced drink. And don’t forget your favorite bagel, donut, or breakfast sandwich.

If you want to slow it down a bit, have a nice hot, sit-down breakfast together.

We love IHOP where we get the 2 X 2 X 2.

That’s two eggs, two pieces of bacon or sausage, and two pancakes.

Perhaps you are a Waffle House scattered, smothered, and covered connoisseur.

Regardless of your “breakfast of champion’s choice” enjoy the morning together.

Then head off to the local Farmer’s Market and pick up some fresh fruit and vegetables then head off to your local home improvement store and buy a couple of plants or flowers.

For fun, pick out fruit, flowers, or vegetables in each of your favorite colors.

You may not know what they are and this is a great way to find out!

With fruits, vegetables, plants, and flowers in tow, head home to plant your new plants. Later, make a fruit and vegetable meal together - Sure, you can throw in some protein - Go ahead, grill some burgers, chicken, or even a steak!

A simple sandwich and chips together make for a great meal

if the above cookery ideas are a bit too much.

Take some time to talk about what you love about spring. Remember, Spring is a time of growth - with new things “springing up” almost daily.

Scripture says in Isaiah 43:19

“See, I am doing a new thing, now it springs up; do you not perceive it?"

As you talk about spring together, share the new thing God is doing in your life. Share the new season you are in, feel you might be entering into, and what you are believing God to do for you in this season.

Now go have some fun!

We’d love for you to take a picture of yourselves on your date!
